Eucalyptus and Peppermint Shower Melts
These congestion relief shower steamers are easy to make and are great gifts to give to your friends and family who may be suffering from a cold or flu this winter as well.
Peppermint essential oil is great for clearing your respiratory tract while helping to improve your mental focus. It will also help give you an energy boost when you are not feeling at your best.
The Eucalyptus essential oil helps to cleanse your body of toxins and harmful microorganisms that can make you feel sick.
As with all essential oils, be very careful when using, especially around children and those with pre-existing conditions. Lemongrass may cause an allergic reaction or skin irritation when used topically, so make sure it is properly diluted when using.
To Make these Shower Decongestion Melts, you will need:
- ½ cup Bicarb soda – baking soda
- ½ cup Epsom salts
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp dried eucalyptus leaves
- 12 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 12 drops peppermint essential oil
- Small mould – with 20ml cups
When using this 20ml cup mould, you will be able to make 12 small discs to use in your shower.
Making the Shower Melts
Add the baking soda, and Epsom salts to a mixing bowl.
Then add the water and eucalyptus leaves, and stir.
Carefully add the essential oils to the bowl, and stir well.
Using a spoon, add the mixture to the mould cavities. Gently press down with the back of the spoon to pack it down very well.
Let set in a dry place for 24-48 hours.
Take the melts out of the mould and store in an airtight container.
To use: Place one mould at the corner of the shower, allowing the steamer to get wet. As it melts, it will release the essential oil vapours. Do not keep in a direct water stream.
