With all the technological advances happening, it is allowing for more children to be connected to and provided for, even when teachers can’t be present with them. This page will explain how to use and share Google Slides with a computer and an iPad, which can be used by teachers and homeschoolers alike. Just scroll through to the option you are looking for. How to Share a Google Slide using a Computer
When you purchase or download a Google Slide activity from Simple Living. Creative Learning, you will receive a pdf file. On this file, you will see a link “Get Your Copy Here, which you will need to click on.
NOTE: To make things easier, sign into Google before clicking on the link. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in when required.
NOTE: You need to make a copy of the activity that you can share with your children as you don’t want any changes made to the master copy. Once you have made your selection you will automatically be presented with a pop up asking you if you would like to make a copy.
After clicking on the link, you will be brought to this page.
Click on the blue ‘Make a copy’ button. This will add a copy of the activity to your Google Drive that you are able to open in Google Slides and interact with it.
NOTE: You must be in edit mode to interact with the slides. If you are in present mode, you will not be able to move any of the manipulative pieces in any of the activities. You will see the mode in the top right hand corner.
When you are ready, you can share the activity with your students or children. You will need to follow these steps for each of your students.
- Click on FILE (top left hand side) for the drop down menu.
- Look down the list and choose ‘Make a Copy’.
- Choose ‘Entire Presentation’
- This will bring you a pop-up titled ‘Copy Document’. Here you can name the new copy of the activity. It is a good idea to add your student’s first and last name to the beginning of the activity name, leaving the rest the same.
- Click ‘Ok’ when finishing editing the name and the new copy will now appear.
- To share with your students, click on the yellow ‘Share’ button which is located on the top right of the screen. When the pop-up appears, enter the email address for the child or parent of the child you wish to send the activity to and click ‘Done.” The pencil beside where you enter in the email address needs to be left there to make sure that the student is able to ‘edit’ and ‘interact’ with the activity.
Repeat for every child that you wish to send the activity to.

When you are ready, you can share the activity with your students or children through Google Classroom. You will need to follow these steps.
- Go to classroom.google.com. If you not logged in, log in when prompted. Here, on the main screen, you will see all your classes displayed.
- Click on the class that you want to share the activity with.
- Choose ‘Classwork’ from the top menu bar.
- When the new screen opens, you will then need to click on the Oval that says ‘+Create”.
- Choose ‘Assignment’. You must add the resources as an assignment so that each student can be provided with their own copy of the resource and be able to interact with it.
- Add a title for your assignment and provide any instructions that you think your students need to complete the activity.
- Click the box with the image of a paper clip and says ‘Add.’
- Choose ‘Google Drive’ from the drop down menu.
- Click on the resource that you previously added to your Google Drive and click ‘Add’.
- Important! – You will see a small picture of the resource with a box to the right that says ‘Students can view file.’
- Click on the words, ‘Students can view file.’
- Change it to the option ‘Make a copy for each student.’ This will enable each of your students in this class to get an editable copy of the activity.
- If you want this to be an ungraded assignment, you will need to go to the right side of the screen where it says ‘Points’ and pick the ‘ungraded’ option from the drop down menu.
- Lastly, click ‘Assign’ in the top right corner and your activity will be shared with your students in their Google Classroom.
How to Share a Google Slide using an iPad
To use Google Slides on an iPad, you and your students will need to download the free Google Slides app and Google Drives app. You will find them in the App Store.
Now it is time to choose your activity. When you purchase or download a Google Slide activity from Simple Living. Creative Learning, you will receive a pdf file. On this file, you will see a link “Get Your Copy Here, which you will need to click on.

It is at this point that you need to close out of your browser and open up the Google Slides App. Once logged in, you will be able to see any Google Slides you have created or purchased.
Search through for the one that you want to share with your students and follow these steps.
- When you have found the activity you want to share, you will see three small dots to the right of the name.
- Tap on these dots and the options will pop up.
- Choose ‘Make a Copy’ and a new copy will appear to the left.
- Tap on the three dots on the copy and choose ‘Rename’. It is a good idea to add your student’s first and last name to the beginning of the activity name, leaving the rest the same.
- Click ‘Rename’ when finishing editing the name.
- Now to share the activity, tap on the three dots again to see the options.
- Tap on ‘Share’ and a box will pop up.
- Enter the email address for the child or parent of the child you wish to send the activity to and then tap the picture of a triangle pointing to the right to share. The pencil beside where you enter in the email address needs to be left there to make sure that the student is able to ‘edit’ and ‘interact’ with the activity.
Repeat for every child that you wish to send the activity to.

It is at this point that you need to close out of your browser and open up the Google Classroom App. Once logged in, you will be able to see all of your classes. Click on the class that you wish to share the activity with.
- Once the class is opened, tap on the word ‘Classwork’ which is located at the bottom of the screen.
- A small plus (+) sign will appear in the bottom right hand of your screen. Tap on this and a pop up will appear.
- Choose ‘Assignment’ – even if you are not going to grade the assignment, you will still need to do this.
- On the next screen, tap on the word ‘Title’ and give your activity a name.
- Tap on ‘Instructions (optional)’ and type in any instructions you think your students may need to help them complete the activity.
- If you are not grading this activity, tap under the word ‘Points’ and when the box appears, choose ‘Ungraded.’
- Tap ‘Save’ to save all your changes.
- To attach the activity, tap on the small paper clip located on the top right corner of the screen.
- Out of the options, choose ‘Google Drive.’
- When you are in your Google Drive, choose the activity you wish to share and tap on it. This will automatically take you back to your Google Classroom.
- Important – To ensure that all your students receive their own copy of the activity that they can edit and interact with, you will find an image that looks like an eye on the far right of your screen. It is directly across from the name of the activity.
- Tap on this eye and then choose ‘Make a Copy for Each Student’ out of the options.
- Now it is ready to share. Located on the top right corner of your screen is a picture of the triangle pointing to the right. Tap this and your are finished.
