This Sweet Orange Moisturising Night Cream can help repair any damage that may have occurred during the day while nourishing it as you slow down and get some rest. Making your own self care products, such as this gorgeous smelling sweet orange moisturising night cream is easy to do, while giving you full control over the ingredients that you use in the recipes.
Sweet Orange Moisturising Night Cream
Purchasing commercial night creams can become very expensive. But, not only that, what is with all the chemicals that are added to theM? With its uplifting and calming scent, Sweet Orange Essential oil is a lovely, refreshing oil to add to this moisturising night cream, making it lighter on your budget, and a more natural product in the end.
In the following recipe, the coconut oil acts a a moisturiser, a multivitamin, and an antioxidant. The vitamin E oil helps prevent premature aging and promotes healing.
I do recommend that you try a small bit of this moisturiser on the back of your hand first, to make sure you do not have any allergies to any of the ingredients. If you do, do not use this recipe.
Sweet Orange Essential Oil
This delicious smelly essential oil is commonly used in skincare products not only for its aroma, but also due to its antioxidant and antiseptic properties. It is effective in keeping your skin clean and clear of acne, reducing dark spots and blemishes, boosting circulation, promoting cell growth, while also serving as an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety tool.
Some citrus essential oils, such as lemon, and lime are considered photosensitive, meaning increased danger when skin that has had essential oils applied to it is exposed to the sun, but sweet orange essential oil is not considered one of these.
Essential Oils
Essential oils are potent, and need to be diluted. As this cream is being used on your face, you will need to use essential oils that are gentle enough to be applied to your skin – and used in the correct quantities.
Some other essential oils that could be used are:
- Frankincense EO – helps promote healthy cell regeneration making it great for those with skin imperfections, wrinkles, and fine lines
- Lavender EO – great for dry, ageing and acne-prone skin as it is an anti-inflammatory, an antiseptic and has antibacterial properties
- Tea Tree EO– great for normal, oily or acne-prone skin
- Rose EO– great for sensitive skin, fine lines, wrinkles and crows feet
- Lemon EO– aids in rejuvenating sagging or tired-looking skin – it is a photosensitive oil, so I would only use it in a night cream
- Myrrh EO– great for dry skin
- Helichrysum EO– great for skin imperfections, as well as dry and ageing skin
