Exfoliating Himalayan Pink Salt Soap Bars

Himalayan Pink Salt

Mined from the Himalayan mountains, Pink Salt contains 84 trace elements such as magnesium, calcium, iron and potassium which perfectly balance the chemistry in our own bodies, and it is free from chemicals. It also has excellent exfoliating properties, which can help with viral, bacterial and fungal skin infections including eczema, psoriasis and acne.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body and it is the first thing people see. To help keep it looking fresh and healthy, the antibacterial properties in the salt in these exfoliating soap bars help remove dead cells, kill bacteria while all while soothing and softening your skin.

Himalayan Pink Salt Soap Bars

With its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that will help repair damaged skin, flush out toxins while deep cleanse and revitalise the skin, these soap bars are ideal for all skin types.

Not only will these soap bars help you feel fresh and clean, they can also be used daily to help remove dead skin cells. You may want to avoid use on areas where there is broken skin, as it may sting.

Used on a regular basis, Himalayan pink salt soap bars can help with many skin conditions including dermatitis, mouth ulcers, infections, wounds, sore, mozzie bites and more.

As these soap bars don’t lather as much as others, they can also be used as an effective body deodorant. Just wet the bar and gently rub in the underarm region. It will help kill off any bacteria that causes body odour.

Exfoliating Regularly

Exfoliating regularly helps in many different ways:

  • preventing breakouts
  • soothes itchiness
  • kills bacteria
  • removes dead skin cells
  • slowing down the ageing process
  • improves your skin making you feel fresh and clean

Sensitive Skin

If you have sensitive skin, gently exfoliating as these soap bars could be abrasive to the skin. You can try wrapping the bar in a face washer and then gently rub over your skin.

Salt Soap Bar Ingredients

To make 4, one inch soap bars, you will need:

  • 1 ¼ lb melt and pour soap base
  • 2 tbsp fine Himalayan pink salt
  • 1 tbsp coarsely ground Himalayan pink salt (ground from grinder)
  • 4 inch silicone soap mould
  • microwave safe spouted measuring cup
  • Spoon or wooden craft stick for stirring
  • Knife or soap cutter to cut the soap

Grind 1 (one) tablespoon of salt from the grinder and keep in a separate container. This salt will go on top of your soap.

Cut the soap base into 1 inch cubes and add to the measuring cup.

Heat in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove and stir well.

Continue to heat in 20 second increments, stirring after each heating session, until the soap base is completely melted.

When melted, let stand for two minutes.

Add the fine salt and stir well.

Add the vitamin E oil and stir well.

The mixture will start to thicken as it cools, so continue to stir. The mixture needs to be cooled off to allow the salt to stay mixed in the soap, rather than sink to the bottom. This is what gives the soap bars the colourful exfoliating chunks that you see within the soap bars. After pouring, your soap should be rocky or chunky at the top, rather than flat in the mould.

can you refrigerate or freeze it in the molds to go a little faster?

I prefer to let the soap set at room temperature as using the fridge or freezer can encourage sweating and if you have made soap with layers, if may cause them to separate.

If you were in a hurry, you could put the mould into the fridge for about 15-30 minutes to help with the setting process. Allow the soap to return to room temperature before attempting to unfold it.

How do you get the big “exfoliating chunks” in the soap when the recipe says to mix in the fine salt, and use the larger ground soap on top?
