Tape Resist Art with Paint

Children of all ages will love creating their own colourful canvas art for their bedrooms with these easy Tape Resist Art with Paint activity.

Tape Resist Art with Paint

Tape Resist Art with Paint

Check out the list of materials that we use with this activity.

With this activity, children can choose the size of their canvas as well as the colours they wish to use to create their canvas art, though these are the supplies we used to create this gorgeous one:

  • 5 x 7 white canvas
  • washi tape
  • craft paint – your choice of colours
  • scissors
  • paint brushes
  • paint palette

To create your own masterpiece, first cut a piece of tape into a length that will fit across your canvas. Place in where you want, then cut another piece of tape and repeat. You can criss cross the tape, do parallel lines or even spell out initials or words.

When done, do one final check, pressing the tape down with fingers to make sure it is sticking well.

Add your chosen paint colours to your palette. Paint each section of the design with the craft paint.

Once all the sections have been painted, set aside and allow art to dry completely. Use another coat of paint if you want the canvas to be more bold in colour. Allow to dry completely.
