Homemade Kinetic Sand Recipe

What is Kinetic Sand?

It is a wonderful, sensory material. It is moldable, and squishable and so much fun to play with. Although this DIY kinetic sand looks the same as shop purchased sand, it may still have its own unique texture.

Kinetic Sand Ingredients

This kinetic sand is so easy to make with only three ingredients.

  • 2 ½ cups Coloured Play Sand – Any type of sand could be used, though fine sand is best. You can colour the sand with food colouring or you can purchase coloured sand.
  • 1 ½ cups cornstarch or cornflour – At a pinch, you could try using normal plain flour.
  • ½ cup olive oil – Though you could try using baby oil, canola oil etc.
