Ginger Tea Notes
- You can add more ginger, be mindful, the more you add, the spicer it will be.
- For a vegan option, use maple syrup and not honey.
- If you have any leftover ginger, slice and freeze to use in future ginger teas. Just remove from the freezer and add to the saucepan as needed.
Ingredients for Making Ginger Tea
To make one cup of tea, you will need:
- 1 x 1-inch chunk of fresh ginger with the peel intact
- 1 Cup Water
Optional Ingredients – Choose One
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Piece of Fresh Turmeric
- 3-4 Springs of Mint
Optional Extras
- Slice of Lemon
- Slice of Orange
- Honey
- Agave
- Maple Syrup
Making Ginger
Place the water into a saucepan and heat over medium-heat.
As the water is heating, slice the ginger into thin slices and then add it to the saucepan.
If adding any of the optional ingredients, add them. Either place one cinnamon stick or sliced turmeric (great for inflammation) or the springs of mint into the saucepan as well.
Bring the water to a boil and then allow to steep for around 4 to 5 minutes.
Remove the saucepan and strain while pouring into a mug.
If preparing ahead, strain and pour into a mason jar.
Add an optional extra such as honey, agave or maple syrup for sweetness, if desired.
A slice of lemon or orange add to the tea adds extra soothing benefits as well.

Storing Ginger Tea
This recipe can be multiplied many times to make a big batch and prepared ahead.
Once done, allow the leftovers to cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight glass jar such as a mason jar in the fridge for up to four days.
Then drink chilled or reheat for a warm tea.
