Homemade Honey Butter is a delectable 2-ingredient spread that goes on everything including bagels, sandwich, toast, muffins or even baked sweet potatoes. It’s so easy and simple to make and the whole family will love it when you do.

Homemade Honey Butter

 

What to Use Honey Butter On

This delicious homemade honey butter can be used on:

  • Bagels
  • In a sandwich
  • Toast
  • Muffins
  • Crepes
  • Dinner rolls or crusty bread
  • Flour tortillas
  • Oatmeal
  • Pancakes
  • Waffles
  • Baked sweet potatoes
  • Scones
  • To make honey carrots
  • Pour over a cake
  • Toss roast vegetables with honey butter 
  • Add some minced garlic and use on shrimp or chicken

Variations

  • Add ¼  teaspoon of Cinnamon, Nutmeg or Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Substitute honey for maple syrup for a delicious maple syrup butter
  • Try adding ¼ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • Try adding a drop of vanilla extract
  • Add ¼ teaspoon of sea  salt, if using unsalted butter
  • Make it spicy by adding about â…› of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • Make orange butter by adding one or two teaspoons for freshly grated orange zest

Storing Homemade Honey Butter

Honey butter will last a couple of months when stored in the fridge in an airtight container. You may meed to let it soften and mix again to keep the consistency up.

You can also freeze the butter for up to three months. To do this, spoon onto a piece of cling wrap (plastic wrap) and then wrap tightly using a couple of layers of the wrap. Finish off with a layer of aluminium foil and freeze. Thaw overnight in the fridge.

Making Honey Butter

To make honey butter, you will need:

  • ½ cup (1 stick, 4 ounces, 8 TBSP) unsalted butter, softened and at room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons honey

Homemade Honey Butter ingredients

The butter in this recipe needs to be softened and at room temperature, so take it out of the fridge around 30 minutes prior to starting this recipe.

Add the softened butter to a mixing bowl.

Using an electric hand mixer, beat the butter until it is nice and fluffy.

Gently pour in the honey, and an other additions if adding, and continue mixing until the mixture is smooth.

Homemade Honey Butter finished

Transfer the honey butter to a serving bowl or a jar.
