Are you looking for different ways to use up those slowly rotting bananas that are sitting on your bench? Yes, you could make banana cake or even these delicious banana bread bars, but why not try making a delicious banana treat for your favourite furry friend. These yummy dehydrated peanut butter banana chips make great treats for dogs.
Peanut Butter Banana Chips
These 2-ingredients peanut butter banana chips are an easy to make treat for your furry friends. My dog loves peanut butter and banana, so he definitely enjoys these dehydrated dog treats.
Can dogs have peanut butter?
Yes, they can – in moderation. The peanut butter that you give to your dogs should NOT contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs. Unsalted peanut butter is best as well, as high sodium levels can affect some dogs.
Can dogs have banana?
Again. Yes, they can – in moderation. Though bananas do contain loads of fibre, potassium and vitamins, they also contain some sugar. I wouldn’t give a small dog more than a couple of treats a day. A larger breed dog may handle a couple more.
Treats for Dogs
Treats, such as these, or these Rockmelon and Yoghurt Treats, these Chicken Treats, or these Vegetable Dog Biscuits, should only be given to your dog in moderation. In fact, treats should not make up more than 10% of your dog’s diet.
Ingredients To Make these Treats
To make these treats, all you need is:
- One Ripe Banana
- ¼ Cup Peanut Butter Powder
You will also need a dehydrator to dry the treats for around 8 hours.
Depending on the size of your banana, this recipe makes around 30+ chips.
Making the Chips
After peeling the banana, slice it into thin slices that are only around 2mm thick.
Place the peanut butter powder into a rectangular bowl and coat each banana piece in the powder.
Place each coated piece of banana onto the dehydrator tray, making sure that none of the pieces are touching.
Place the tray in the dehydrator and turn the machine on.
Set the temperature for 57˚C or 135˚F and dehydrate for 4 hours.
Turn the banana pieces over and continue to dehydrate for another 4 hours, or until dry.
