Making treats for your dog doesn’t have to be expensive. With this easy, 3 ingredient chicken gummy recipe, you will have some delicious treats for your furry friend in no time at all.
Chicken Broth
You can purchase chicken broth for your dog or your can easily make some yourself. It is very easy to make yourself, made from boiling chicken bones, and is packed full of nutrients and vitamins that are great for your dogs health.
If you do make your own chicken broth for your dog, make sure to avoid adding spices, onion, garlic, salt and artificial colourings and flavourings. Also, remove as much fat from it as you can as too much fat is not good for your dog. Homemade chicken broth can be stored in the fridge in a glass jar for about 4 – 5 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Store bought broth can be given to your dog, just check to make sure that it doesn’t contain high levels of salt, onion, garlic, artificial colouring and flavourings or preservatives. The best bet is to stick with an organic, non-GMO broth.
NOTE: You should ALWAYS avoid giving your dog anything that contains Xylitol, since it is poisonous to dogs.

- 4 oz (¾ cup) sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
- 2 TBSP unflavoured gelatine
- mould and dropper – make sure the shape and size of the mould is suitable for your dog

Before making these gummies, make sure you have your broth ready if making it yourself. You will also need to peel, chop and boil 1 – 2 sweet potatoes until they are soft. Drain and mash until all the lumps are gone. Place on a sieve to remove as much liquid as possible. Set aside to cool until it is needed.
To make these chicken treats, heat the broth until it is boiling. This can be done in a microwavable safe jug or in a saucepan over low heat.
Gently mix the gelatine into the hot broth until it is fully dissolved.
Stir in the sweet potato until fully mixed.
Allow the mixture to cool slightly before pouring into the moulds.
Place the moulds onto a tray or cookie sheet. Pour the mixture into the moulds using a dropper if necessary.
Place the tray with the moulds on it into the fridge until the gummies are set – usually around 45 minutes to one hour.
When set, remove from moulds, and store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.
Keep an eye on these treats as they may become mouldy. If they do, throw them out.
