Epson salts are a great product, but do not dissolve as quickly as magnesium flakes. Many people have found the salts to be irritating to their skin. Epson salts are great for a foot soak or in the bath, but are not great for use in this spray or a magnesium lotion.
Using Magnesium

Magnesium Spray

- 2 tablespoons carrier oil (optional)
Place the distilled water in a small saucepan.
Heat over medium heat, until the water is boiling and then turn off the heat. The water can also be heated in a microwaveable jug in the microwave.
Place the magnesium chloride flakes in a bowl.
Gently pour the boiled water over the magnesium chloride flakes.
Stir continuously until the magnesium flakes have dissolved.
If adding essential oils, add to the carrier oil, then mix with the magnesium water.
Let the mixture cool down, then pour into the spray bottle.
Store at room temperature for about 6 months.
NOTE – While it is not essential to add essential oils to this spray, you can if you wish. Make sure that the essential oils are recommended for topical use and dilute them properly.
Make sure to do your research first and use with extreme care. Some essential oils are phototoxic, and can cause negative reactions on your skin in sunlight—such as burning, blistering, or discolouration.
Using Magnesium Oil Spray
To use this oil, shake the bottle.
Then begin with spraying about 7-8 sprays all over the body. Increase the number of sprays if required and it is tolerable.
You may find that it tingles, stings or burns a little.
If this stinging type feeling doesn’t subside or it bothers you, wash it off after around 10-15 minutes or apply your favourite lotion afterward. It is said that they more deficient you are in magnesium, the more it will sting.
