This gorgeous blend of rendered tallow and organic rose petals is soothing, hydrating and has amazing rejuvenating properties. Homemade rose tallow face cream nourishes your skin, making it supple, radiant and healthy.
Homemade Rose Tallow Face Cream
This luxurious moisturiser is perfect for dry and sensitive skin. The tallow provides a variety of vitamins, essential fatty acids for moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties that help sooth redness and irritation while the rose infused oil adds hydration, promotes skin cell regeneration which helps with anti-aging and also helps reduce redness and irritation.
This mixture is quite soft which makes it great for applying. If you prefer a harder cream, then use less infused oil or add a little beeswax and melt it with the tallow and infused oil.
Using Rose Tallow Face Cream
To use, apply a small pea-sized amount to your fingers and gently massage into the skin using circular motions.
This cream can also be used as a:
- Nappy rash cream
- After sun cream
- Balm for a pregnancy bump
- Beard balm
- Aftercare for tattoos
- Moisturising cream for your body
Carrier Oils
When making a face cream, choosing the correct carrier oil can improve the impact of the cream as each carrier oil has its own set of distinct properties. Blending a couple of carrier oils can also help maximise their benefits.
With this face cream recipe, there are multiple carrier oils that could be used including:
- Avocado Oil
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Argan Oil
- Rosehip Oil
- Hemp Oil
- Safflower Oil
You can learn more about carrier oils here.
Essential Oils
You can add a few drops of essential oils to this cream if you wish, though please remember that essential oils are potent, and need to be diluted. As this cream is being used on your face, you will need to use essential oils that are gentle enough to be applied around the mouth and eyes – and used in the correct quantities.
Just be careful using some essential oils such as tea tree and peppermint, around children and pregnant women, making sure to do your research before using.
I personally prefer not to use essential oils in many of my facial products as they may enter your mouth / eyes and I do not recommend ingesting essential oils.

Rose Infused Oil
Rose salve is made using rose infused oil. You can make your own rose infused oil following the directions here, just swap out rose petals for the calendula petals, or you could purchase some.
To make rose infused oil, you will need to make an infusion using dried rose petals and a carrier oil. This will then set for a few weeks, before the rose petals are strained out and the oil saved to use in this salve.
The best carrier oil to use to make the infused oil depends on your skin type. you can find out more information about carrier oils here.
