On May 5th, 1862, 6,000 French troops stormed the Mexican city of Heróica Puebla de Zaragoza. Though outnumbered, the Mexican soldiers fought back until the French retreated in the early evening. Today, the people of Puebla, Mexico and many in the US, observe the holiday Cinco de Mayo to celebrate this victory. With these Cinco de Mayo Worksheets, children will enjoy sharpening their math and literacy skills while learning about Mexico and Cinco de Mayo.
