This homemade toilet cleaner gel offers a simple, natural way to keep your toilet clean. It works just as well as store-bought options, but without the use of harsh chemicals.

Homemade Toilet Cleaner Gel

This affordable toilet cleaner gel is easy to make with only three ingredients (plus water) that are found in many homemade products.

Cleaner Gel Variations

• Use a flavoured Castile Soap such as peppermint or orange if not using essential oils
• The borax can be left out and replaced with extra bicarbonate of soda.
• Citrus or mint essential oils go well with this cleaner

Ingredients for making Homemade Toilet Cleaner Gel

To make this toilet cleaner gel, you will need:

• 1 Cup Hot Water
• ¼ Cup Borax
• ¼ Cup Bicarbonate of Soda
• ½ Cup Castile Soap
• 12 Drops Essential Oil – Optional

Making Homemade Toilet Cleaner Gel

If using essential oils, add them to the Castile soap and mix through.

Add the hot water to a large jug and mix in the borax and the bicarbonate of soda.

Continue to stir until the dry ingredients are all dissolved.

Gently pour in the Castile soap and mix through.

Pour the mixture into a squirt bottle.

Using Homemade Toilet Cleaner Gel

To use, shake the bottle to fully combine.

Add a good squirt, around ¼ cup of the mixture into the toilet bowl.

Give the bowl a good scrub with a toilet brush.

Let it sit for a few minutes, then clean as normal.

This mixture should last a couple of months when kept in a dry place, at room temperature out of direct sunlight.

Due to having water in it, it will not last any longer. To increase the shelf life, a preservative will need to be added.
