Are you looking for a non-toxic homemade leave-in conditioner that is easy to make and leaves no residue? Then this is the recipe for you!
Homemade Leave In Conditioner
Not only is this leave in conditioner quick and easy to make from non-toxic ingredients, it can be used to help detangle the hair as well. And, even if you don’t have time to wash your hair, try using this mixture to give your hair a quick refresh. Just dampen your hair and massage a small amount through.
While helping with detangling, this mixture will also help hydrate and protect the hair.
Variations
- Rosemary essential oil is great for strengthening hair and helping with growth, but it should not be used on children under 10. Try using lavender essential oil but any essential oils will work. Just do your research first.
- Any carrier oil will work as some people can react to ones such as coconut or sweet almond oil.
- An infused oil can also be used in place of the carrier oil. The process pictures below show an infusion of coffee and green tea in Argan oil which is great for helping stimulate hair growth.
- Jojoba oil is a great oil to use on your hair instead of Argan oil.
Carrier Oils
When making a leave in conditioner, choosing the correct carrier oil can improve the impact of the conditioner as each carrier oil has its own set of distinct properties. Blending a couple of carrier oils can also help maximise their benefits.
With this conditioner recipe, there are multiple carrier oils that could be used including:
- Avocado Oil
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Argan Oil
- Rosehip Oil
- Hemp Oil
- Safflower Oil
You can learn more about carrier oils here.
Essential Oils
You can add a few drops of essential oils to this cream if you wish, though please remember that essential oils are potent, and need to be diluted. As this cream is being used on your face, you will need to use essential oils that are gentle enough to be applied around the mouth and eyes – and used in the correct quantities.
Just be careful using some essential oils such as tea tree and peppermint, around children and pregnant women, making sure to do your research before using.
