Our boys love painting with watercolour paints. When we found watercolour pencils, the boys were extremely keen to try them. As we are learning about space at the moment, it was the perfect chance to try out the pencils.
Watercolour Solar System
To create this Watercolour Solar System, you will need:
- Watercolour Paper
- Watercolour Pencils
- Water
- You could make your own watercolour paints – recipe here.
I purchased the watercolour pencils and paper from Kmart. We have used the paper a lot with the watercolour paints and love how thick it is and how it holds the colours.
First, cut out the sun and planets from the paper. You can create these any size you wish.
Then, the kids coloured the circles in with the watercolour pencils. If you are using watercolour paints, paint the planets and sun the colours you want straight onto the paper.
When they had finished colouring the solar system with the pencils, they brushed over them lightly with water.
They loved using these watercolour pencils!!
Here is their finished Watercolour Solar System!
