Native to Australia and New Guinea, Kookaburras are birds that belong to the kingfisher family. There is one species of kookaburra that is known as the laughing kookaburra as its call sounds like that of a person laughing. Nesting in large holes in tree trunks or termite mounds, kookaburras use their large bills to catch snakes, lizards, worms, snails, frogs and rodents. Children will love learning about these laughing birds and their life cycle with these fun and free kookaburra life cycle printables.
