Hot Cocoa Mix Notes
- It is easy to make your own vanilla bean powder, or you may be able to some from the store. If using your homemade vanilla bean powder in this recipe, some of the vanilla bean powder, you will find that it will not all completely melt in the drink, so there will be some residue and small pieces left over.
- You can make and add some vanilla sugar to enhance the flavour too.
- Pure vanilla extract is an easy substitute for vanilla powder, especially as it is more commonly available. Vanilla powder has a more concentrated flavour, so us 1 teaspoon of extract to every ½ teaspoon of powder.
- If using vanilla extract in this mix, don’t add it to the dry mix. Add it when you are making the hot cocoa, when you add the hot water or hot milk.
