Making Smoky Steak Seasoning Rub

Nothing could be more simpler. Just add all the ingredients into a small bowl and mix thoroughly.

Store the seasoning in an airtight container at room temperature.

Variations

  • For a little more heat, try adding a small amount of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes
  • A small amount of rosemary could also be added
  • Mix the rub into a little oil, such as avocado oil, until it forms a paste and use that to rub on meat
  • Once pressed into your protein, try reverse searing the meat for the perfect steak

Using Smoky Seasoning Rub

Apply the seasoning as a dry rub to meat. Allow the meat to marinate with the run for 30 minutes prior to cooking.

It is easier to add seasoning than to remove it, so start with a light hand until you find your perfect taste.

I recommend pressing the seasoning into the meat with the palm of your hand to help it adhere better to the meat. As rubbing in seasonings tend to make them clump, pressing in will help avoid this issue as well as help with even distribution of the rub.

  • This smoky seasoning works well on steak, pork, salmon and chicken.
  • Use to add flavour to quiches, stews, soups and pasta dishes
  • Sprinkle over roast vegetables
  • Sprinkle on homemade pizzas

Storing Seasoning Rub

This rub can be made ahead or made in large batches and stored in a jar in the pantry for later.

When stored correctly, it should keep for you to 6 months.

It could also be used as a great edible gift to share with friends and family, especially on Father’s Day.
