Edible Playdough with Peeps and Sprinkles

This fun edible playdough is a great way to incorporate sensory play with young children. Though this activity contains peeps and sprinkles, you don’t need to use those, you can add your own props and different colours for learning. Your kids will love learning and playing with this edible playdough with peeps and sprinkles.

Edible Playdough with Peeps and Sprinkles

Young children will love this soft, smooth and edible playdough, creating all sorts of shapes and fun things.

You will need:

  • 10oz. of white frosting
  • 3 cups of powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1 tbsp Yellow sugar sprinkles
  • Package of Yellow Peeps
  • Large spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Plate
  • Optional: cookie cutters

This dough is super easy to make. First, you will need to gather all your supplies into one place, which will make creating this playdough so much easier. Children will love to help, so having all the supplies within reach is a great idea.

Next, scoop the white icing into the mixing bowl. Mix in 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to the icing and mix together well.

This is the most consuming part! If the mixture still seems sticky, slowly add in the last ½ cup of powdered sugar and mix well.

Add the yellow sprinkles and mix well. Form the dough into a ball.

Press down the dough ball.

Sprinkle a few more yellow sprinkles on top of the dough. Add Peeps on top.

The dough is ready for play! Store in an air-tight container when you are finished playing. Use cookie cutters while using playdough, if desired. 

Note: You can add more sprinkles as desired as the kids are playing with the dough for sensory play. Kids can watch how the colors blend in with the dough and change.

Ingredients
  

  • 10 oz (250g) white frosting
  • 3 cups powdered sugar / icing sugar
  • 1 TBSP yellow sugar sprinkles
  • 1 pack Yellow Peeps

Instructions
 

  • Scoop the white icing into the mixing bowl.
  • Mix in 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to the icing. Mix the icing and powdered sugar together well. (This will be the most time consuming part!)
  • If the mixture still seems sticky, slowly add in the last ½ cup of powdered sugar and mix well.
  • Add yellow sprinkles and mix well.
  • Form the dough into a ball.
  • Press down the dough ball.
  • Sprinkle a few more yellow sprinkles on top of the dough.
  • Add Peeps on top. The dough is ready for play!
  • Store in an air-tight container when you are finished playing.
