You would probably call the us eclectic homeschoolers as we tend to borrow ideas from many styles of homeschooling and apply them in a way in which our children will learn them best.
We are registered through Jubilee Christian College, Unit 1 for distance education. Our boys complete a minimum of 60 PACEs per year which is their basic curriculum. To this we add
a range of other activities. We used to dolap booking, but they seem to have outgrown them and are now more into the note booking type of learning.
Here is what our homeschooling looks like.
The pencils have been sharpened! The desks have been cleaned.
The PACEs have arrived! R is doing 8 subjects this year! B is doing 7.
Every weekend we go through and write in their homeschooling journals what pages they are to complete in each subject for the following week. I find this is very helpful as some days they like to get up early and start their schoolwork before I get out of bed. This seems to happen when they want something!!

After they have finished their PACE work for the day, we go onto other activities which can include:
They each have an A4 visual art diary for their music, spanish and adventure books. They have an A3 visual art diary for their art books. As these were not filled up last year, we are just going to continue using them.
Then it is onto the fun stuff
Like cooking,
making and playing with playdough,
making paint
and using it,
doing science experiments,
playing with lego
or playing outside and gardening.
This blog is a story containing all the different activities we get up to throughout the year.
Why not come and follow along and see what we do this year?

I like your idea to fill out the journal before the week to encourage independent work!
