These Community Worker sorting mats are the perfect way for toddlers, kindergarteners and preschoolers to learn about different workers in the community and work on learning about sorting at the same time! This set of Community Worker sorting mats features thirty-three different community workers.

Community Workers Sorting Mats one large mat

To Prepare:

To prepare, print out all the pages on white paper or cardstock. For durability, I then recommend laminating them. There are two mats per page, so they will need to be cut in half.

You could write the name of the tools used by the community workers on the back of each card before laminating to make this activity a self-check one. For very young children, you could also place velcro dots on the spots on the mats and on the back of the cards.

To Use:

This activity is pretty straightforward. Have your child match the correct community worker tools onto the correct cards. For young children, start familiarising them with the community workers, one at a time. Read the job position of the community worker while pointing to it on the mat.

As your child becomes better with their community worker jobs, add another mat, using two than three at a time until they can use all the mats at once, sorting the community workers at once.

This Community Worker printable contains sorting mats for thirty-three different jobs. They include baker, dentist, farmer, forest ranger, shop assistant, doctor, nurse, lifeguard mailman, chef, waiter, waitress, veterinarian, mechanic, judge, lawyer, painter, park ranger, plumber, spa attendant, garbage collector, bank clerk, firefighter, meteorologist, businesswoman, construction worker, detective, crossing guard, businessman, diver, police officer, teacher and soldier.
