In the Australian Kitchen

This month for the Poppins Book Nook, the theme was In the Kitchen.

Our boys love to get into the kitchen, whether it is for cooking or for doing science experiments.

The book we chose to read this month was “Wombat Stew and the Wombat Stew Cookbook” by Marcia Vaughan and Pamela Lofts.

 Wombat Stew

After reading about the Wombat stew that Dingo was making, our boys went through the Wombat Stew cookbook to see what they would like to make.

The first thing they made was Platypus Pancakes.

These were very yummy with icing sugar sprinkled over them.

Then they decided to make the Tasmanian Devil Food Cake.

Our boys have really enjoyed reading these books this month and have loved spending time in the kitchen baking.  Though I think they have enjoyed licking out the bowls and eating their creations.

Check out what the other co-hosts have been up to this month!

Ha – that’s my daughter’s favorite part about cooking, too – licking the spoons and eating the finished product! lol!
