These fun cow themed time matching cards are a fun way to help teach and review telling the time.
Check out the list of materials that we use with these printables.
Time Matching Cards
Being able to tell the time gets easier with practice. With this matching card set, children will learn to tell the time in 5 minute increments. There is also one blank page for you to add extra cards if you wish.
Preparing the Cards
In this printable pack, there are two sets of cards – one in colour and one in black and white. There is also a blank page of 4 cards in both colour and black and white for you to print out and write on your own times.
I recommend printing out on white cardstock and laminating for durability.
Once printed, cut out the cards on the solid lines and place the cow analogue clocks in one pile and the bucket with the digital time in another pile.
For young children just learning to tell the time, you could remove the o’clock cards and begin working on them first. Then move onto half past, quarter past and quarter to, then onto using all the cards.
Store the cards in a ziplock bag or punch a hole in the top left hand corner and put the cards on a ring.
Using the Matching Cards
Some ways that you can use these cards are:
- Memory Game – cut out all cards and place face down, flip over two and it they match set them aside, if they don’t place them back face down and start again. Keep going until all the clocks are matched to their correct time.
- Place all the clock cards face up on the table, shuffle the time cards and then match the time to the correct clock face.
- Make your own clock, shuffle the time cards into a pile. Pick up a time card and move the hands on your clock to make the time listed on your time card.
- Matching Game – match the time on the clock face to the correct written time.
- Use in a group for a fun matching time.
- These cards can also be used in conjunction with a hands-on clock to help children with learning to read the time.
