For the last week, our boys have been using Kids Who Know. This online program teaches children essential life lessons on acceptable social values and practical safety skills. Covering 20 topics with fun and engaging lessons, children are given the knowledge to be able to access situations and make the right decisions.
By completing this program, your children will learn essential skills that will stay with them for life. The 20 topics that are covered are: Friendship, Smart Around Chemicals, Honesty, Speaking Manners, Caring for Animals, Sun Wise, Kindness and Compassion, Manners in Action, Fire Wise, Patience and Perseverance, Sportsmanship, Hygiene, Electricity Wise, Saying Sorry, Table Manners, Water Wise, Tech Manners, Road Wise, Healthy Me and Caring for our World.
When you first sign in, you are introduced to four characters: Zanzi, Flash, Zack and Zi. These characters teach the topics to the students via short videos with realistic everyday scenarios. After watching the short 3 minute videos, there is a 4 question quiz. A certificate is then awarded or a game is unlocked.
Each child is given their own login details for their own personal experience. Their name is automatically entered in all greetings, certificates and activities. I think this is a fantastic way to encourage learning. The children are able to show these certificates to others and recite to them all of the things they learned. Above is B’s dashboard after he has completed 6 modules. He has three games and three certificates available. When you scroll down (not in the picture), you find the links to the printable activity pages.
After each topic is completed, an email is sent to the email address you signed up with. This lets you know what module your child has completed and the things they learned. It also gives you a short story about what happened in the video and how your child went on the quiz. It also lets you know if your child has received a certificate or has unlocked a new game and what the next module is.
Our boys love this program! They have printed out all their certificates and activity pages and made them into a book. They have watched the videos over and over again.
The videos are colourful and easy to watch and understand. I like how you can pause and replay each video over again, so I can make sure the boys comprehend all the information in them.
There are 4 questions in each quiz, but they are great in making children remember what they heard in the video. The boys loved how the quizzes were marked straight away, and they were able to see what questions they answered correctly.
Overall, I have to say this is an awesome program that teaches children very important concepts. Using colourful and exciting videos and games, children will learn acceptable social social values and practical safety skills.

This sounds like an interesting program. Have you noticed if the program has had a positive impact on real life situations? For example, have table manners improved as a result? Just wondering of lessons learned are easily applied in everyday situations.
Stacey
Yes, our boys are more conscious of things. The more times they watch the videos and answer the questions, the more conscious they are becoming. They were worried about daddy when they learned about the electrical things as he is an electrician. They told him all they learnt so that he could be safe.
Alicia
Do your boys have a favorite topic that they learned about?
Stacey
They really liked the electrical one, as daddy is an electrician and then we went out to tea for my birthday and they were telling us the table manners they had learnt. They love all the games!!
Rachel
That’s really neat! Definitely something for me to look into for the future
