This is one of the miracles performed by Jesus while He was on this earth. He had just heard of a friend that had died and was heading to the shore for some alone time. On arriving, He found a crowd had gathered, He had compassion on the people and began to teach them.

It was becoming late and the disciples were starting to worry as they were quite far from the cities and villages and there was no place for the people to have something to eat. The disciples asked Jesus to send the people away, but Jesus didn’t want to. In the crowd was a small boy who had five barley loaves and two fish.

Jesus took the food and, looking up to heaven, blessed the food. He broke it and kept giving it out to the disciples to hand out among the people. When everyone was full, the disciples gathered up twelve baskets full of food. There were about 5000 men, as well as women and children that Jesus fed with just the five barley loaves and two fish.
