As part of trying to remove all chemicals from our house, I decided it was time to find a more natural hand soap recipe. This is where I had to be careful as our oldest boy has an many allergic reactions to hand soap and body wash in the past. This DIY Natural Hand Soap has proven to be a good choice for our family.
We have been using this natural hand soap for a couple of months now with no allergic reactions at all. It is soft on the skin and cleans our hands really well.
To make this hand soap, you will need:
- 3/4 cup Castile Soap, such as Dr. Bronners
- 3/4 cup distilled water
- 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil
- 1 tablespoon nourishing oil such as sweet almond or jojoba oil
- 10 drops tea tree essential oil
- 5 drops lavender essential oil
Method:
- In a pint-sized (500ml) mason jar or glass soap dispenser, add the water first (to prevent bubbles) then the liquid castile soap, followed by the essential oils.
- Top your dispenser with a pump lid, making sure the lid is attached securely.
- Shake the dispenser to combine the ingredients.
- Before each use, give the dispenser a little shake and then squirt a small amount into your hands for cleansing.

I will say I love the smell of this hand soap, though you can change the essential oils to suit you if you wish.
