Big River Holiday Park and Ski Lodge

When we found out that Big River Holiday Park and Ski Lodge had a ‘winter special’ going, we thought we would just have to take a look.

Big-River-Holiday-Park

Situated about 15 minutes from Grafton on the New South Wales Coast, Big River is located right on the Clarence River. It has a swimming pool, tennis courts, jumping pillow and clean facilities.

Until the 17th September, they have unpowered camping sites for a gold donation or $20 for a powered site which is great value.

They have a limited supply of caravan/camping sites as most of the park is made up of lodges. We found the ‘roads’ in the park to be quite narrow and had a lot of trouble getting around with the van on the back of the car. We ended up on a powdered site down the back as the riverfront ones were a big tight for us to get in and out of.

The sites at the back are massive, and with hardly anyone else around, the boys had plenty of room to run around on the soft, green grass.

We were also very close to the pool and the amenities. It was too cool for us to us the pool while we were there, but we did make use of the tennis courts. Unfortunately the jumping pillow was down the whole time we were there.

We all enjoyed an afternoon walk along the river each day we were there.

At night, we had a campfire. They supply a 44-gallon drum cut in half and supply wood which can be purchased at the shop, though you are able to bring your own, which is what we did.

This was great as the nights were still really cold, making it great to warm up next to a hot fire and toast marshmallows.

Overall, we had an enjoyable time relaxing and getting out in the van again after such a long time.
