Calendula Facial Cleanser
This homemade facial cleanser is a non-toxic way to clean your face that is easy to make and beneficial for your skin. Calendula is an amazing flower that can help with detoxification. It also contains anti fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. This flower is also quite easy to grow in the garden as well.
Note: If using for the first time, test on a small area of your skin such as the inside of your wrist to make sure there is no adverse reaction. if they is wash of the cleanser with water and discontinue use immediately
Calendula
Calendula is a lovely plant to have in the garden with its lovely colourful flowers, but did you know that it makes an excellent companion plant, helping to repel pests, as well as being pollinator-friendly, attracting bees and butterflies.
It is also used in many natural skin care products with its ability to help in aiding with the easing and healing of many skin conditions such as rashes, acne, wounds, scrapes, and eczema. With its natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, it works to help with repairing cells.

Storing Calendula Facial Cleanser
Store in a small pump bottle in a cool, dry, dark place at room temperature for up to one week. Or, especially for those in warmer climates, store in the fridge for up to one month.
Ingredients for Making Calendula Facial Cleanser
To make around 10 ounces, you will need:
- ½ Cup Raw Organic Honey
- ½ Cup Infused Calendula Oil
- ½ Cup Castile Soap
- 2 x 4 oz or 1 x 8 oz Pump Container
To make the calendula infused oil, you will need:
- 2 Cups Dried Calendula Flowers
- 2 Cups Carrier Oil such as avocado oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil or coconut oil
Making Calendula Infused Oil
Before making the calendula facial cleanser, you will need to make calendula infused oil, if you don’t already have some.
Once you have calendula infused oil, you can move onto making the calendula facial cleanser.
To make the infused oil, place the dried flowers in a jar.
Add the carrier oil and allow to mix through the flowers.
Cover the jar with a tight fitting lid and give it a good shake. Place the jar dark, cool place.
Infuse for 4 – 6 weeks, shaking every couple of days when you walk past. Then strain out the petals using a cheesecloth and pour the oil into a clean, glass jar. Store in a cool, dark place while using.

Making Calendula Facial Cleanser
Combine the honey, calendula infused oil and Castile soap together in a jar with a solid lid.
Stir, then add the lid to the jar and shake until all the honey is thoroughly mixed through.
Carefully pour the mixture into a pump container.
Using Calendula Facial Cleanser with Honey
Shake the bottle before every use to ensure everything is thoroughly mixed together still.
Use one to two pumps to carefully wash your face, being careful not to get it in your eyes.
Rinse off immediately.
