10Drops of essential oil - Mix of Frankincense, Lavender and Cedarwood
Prevent your screen from going dark
Instructions
If making your own magnesium oil - Place the magnesium flakes in a glass jug. Pour over the boiling water and mix until the flakes are all dissolved.
Melt shea butter and beeswax in a double boiler over low heat. Add coconut oil.
Bring to room temperature (or same as magnesium oil).
Slowly add in the magnesium oil to the melted shea butter mix, while stirring.
Allow the mixture to cool.
Once cooled and hard, whip into a lotion, slowly adding the essential oils as you go.
Pour into an airtight, glass jar.
The lotion/cream mixture should last for up to 6 months when stored in a dark space. If you live in a hot place with high humidity, you may need to keep it in the fridge.
Start slowly with this lotion, rubbing in a small amount and slowly working up to make sure there are no reactions.
Notes
Just a word of caution:
Make your own Magnesium Oil: ½ cup magnesium flakes and 3 TBSP boiling water
Those with an allergy to latex should not use Shea Butter, try cocoa butter or mango butter instead.
You may also substitute the extra virgin coconut oil with jojoba or avocado oil (not if allergic to latex though) if you desire.
Some people may react to magnesium, so please try the lotion on a small spot to check. I have read that it is apparently due to a deficiency in magnesium and it should go away after using
Epson salts are a great product, but do not dissolve as quickly as magnesium flakes. Many people have found the salts to be irritating to their skin. Epson salts are great for a foot soak or in the bath, but are not great for use in this lotion.
