We purchased an iPad about a year ago and have used a fabric flip case on it, so when we were asked to review the Kraken A.M.S. Case for Apple iPad 2/3/4 from Trident Case we were thrilled and chose the bright orange one.
The case we were given to review is part of the Kraken AMS series of cases that include an attachment port that supports a variety of attachments such as stand and holder and strap holder. Also, there are eight different colours to choose from which make this protective case fun for the eye. Trident also offer similar cases for many other tablets and smart phones.
The Kraken A.M.S case has so many features, a hardened polycarbonate exterior with shock absorbing silicon interior, a built-in screen protector and all the device controls and ports are protected with silicon. It is made in the USA and meets or exceeds the military standards MIL-STD-810F which means it must be tough. You can see all the features in the picture below.
We use our iPad daily and it does get a very good work out. We needed a case that was durable and that would stand up to the treatment of two young boys. This one has done the job!
We were not really happy with the flip style case we had and were having lots of trouble aligning the camera so we could take photos, so we have been looking for a case that is not only very functional but hard wearing as well.
Once the case arrived, I put it straight on. There are instructions in the case, but it is pretty straightforward and very easy to do. One of the things I really like about this case was that although it does add a little bit of thickness to the iPad it is still relatively lightweight. I also like the fact that this case has green protection which means it is degradable, compostable and recyclable.
There were a couple of things we were a little unsure of, but after a couple of months, we know now that we needn’t to have been so worried about them. The sound was one of these. We have never had a case like this before and were unsure of how it would affect the sound. I am happy to report that the sound was not muffled or affected in any way at all.
The other thing we were a bit weary about was the silicon covers that cover up the ports. We thought they may have broken off with all the use, but after a couple of months of hard going they are still going strong. The one covering the charging port does pop out every now and then, but that can be easily pushed back in.
I also love the built in screen protector in the front panel. This means that we don’t have to apply our own which always ends in us having to try and work out the many bubbles we seem to get.
We have found this case to be tough and great for our needs. They really are a great investment to protect your electronic devices that you spend so much money on purchasing. You can watch a short video on the strength of these iPad cases below.
