We have been focusing on learning more about the New Testament this year. When we were given the option of reviewing the Fast Track Bible Pack: New Testament from Wizzy Gizmo, we were thrilled.
Wizzy Gizmo certainly bring the Bible to life with their entertaining, child-friendly Biblical products.
The Fast Track Bible Pack: New Testament includes 27 (+ cover) beautifully printed cards. They are printed on card stock and are a good size at 5×9 inches or 12.5×20.5cm. The front of the cards contain a summary on the book as well as the number of chapters in the book, the author, the date it was written and the theme of the book.
On the back of the cards, you will find the outline of the book, the key chapters, the key passages, the key doctrines and the key people. It is absolutely amazing how much they are able to fit on these cards!
How did we go?
Our boys absolutely loved these cards. There are many suggestions on the Wizzy Gizmo website on how to use these cards which we really liked. These ideas inspired us to create other fun ways to use the cards that suited the learning styles of our boys.
We used these cards during family devotion time, that we do before the boys go to bed at night. We spent a week on each card. The first night, we read the front of the card. Then I would quiz the boys on certain things, like the author, date the book was written and the theme of the book. The following night I would read the front and the back of the card and then quiz the boys again. On the third night, we would choose some of the key passages or chapters to read from the Bible. Then for the rest of the week, we would go over what we have learnt and read the key passages, or chapters from the Bible. We also spent one night reading the key doctrine passages as well.
At the start of each devotion, the boys loved being quizzed on what we have completed the previous night/s. R was awesome. He remembered everything! He loves learning about the Bible and history and has an awesome memory, so I wasn’t really surprised. B struggled a little with the dates, but other than that he did extremely well.
I would ask them questions like, “Who wrote the Book of Matthew?”, “What was the Date of Writing of the book of John?” and “What was the theme of the book of Romans?” and they boys would raise their hands if they knew (or thought they knew) the answer. The boy who raised his hand first, got to answer the question. They loved this!!
They would always ask for more questions when we had finished our devotion for that night. “More, More, please ask more questions!” It was fantastic to see how keen and interested they were to learn more about the books of the New Testament.
We have been thrilled with these cards and will definitely continue to use them. There are endless ways that you can use them and how to you change your methods depending on the age of your children and their learning style! I would love cards like this for the Old Testament!!
