We were very excited to receive the bone conduction headset from Forbrain – Sound for Life Ltd. Using bone conduction and a filter, this award-winning device is designed to train your brain. What is Bone conduction, you ask? Bone conduction is the conveyance of sound though bones in the skull to the inner ear. How will this product work for me? The technology of this product gives the user the ability to hear your own voice. In hearing your own voice, your become more aware of articulation, volume, tone and the rhythm of your speech; allowing the user to adjust these things.

Just by using Forbrain for 15-20 minutes a day for six weeks, you should be able to notice improvement in how the brain functions and speech. This product has been used with children who have Sensory Processing Disorders or issues, ADD or ADHD, speech delays, focus issues and more with lots of people seeing amazing results.

How did we go?

Upon signing for the product, we opened the package to find a box which contained a black hard storage case as well as all the products listed above. Before using the product, you will need to charge it. I connected it through my laptop and found it took about 3 hours to fully charge. The battery life for this product is approximately six hours.

We found using this product was very easy. It turns on when you press the on/off button, before looping the hoop behind your head. The padded earphones are placed on the bone in front of your ears. The microphone can be adjusted for each person. It needs to be situated a couple of cm from the mouth. You will know if you have placed it correctly, as you should hear your own voice clearly when you speak. The first time our boys used it they were a little surprised at the sound they heard. When you receive ForBrain, the volume is set at an optimum level, though you can adjust it if you need to by using the up and down volume buttons, though we didn’t find this necessary. When you talk through it, it sounds like you are talking into a microphone.

We used this products with both of our boys, though mainly with our youngest. B blazes through his speech, talking at a million miles an hour making it hard for many people to understand what he is saying. Since his ‘adult’ front teeth arrived, he has also been having issues with saying certain sounds, like ‘th’ and ‘r’. Both of our boys (at home) have volume control issues. They seem to enjoy talking to each other in quite loud voices.

It is recommended that this product is used daily; 15 minute for children and 20 minutes for adults, so that is what we did. Our boys used it while they were reading their literature books, memorising maths and scripture and we have loved seeing the results.

Since using Forbrain, we have noticed that B is doing quite well at speaking at a normal rate, though when he is excited, he goes back to talking quickly again. When speaking, he is slowing down and concentrating more on the pronunciation of the words he is saying. Both of our boys volume control is also quieting down. We have also seen an improvement in focus, concentration and the memorisation.

We have been really impressed with the results so far and I believe with continued and consistent use, this product will continue to help improve our boys eye contact and communication skills and give them confidence. This product is comfortable and light weight making it easy to wear and use.
