We have been meaning to try this melted crayon art for a while now, but have only just got round to it.

I purchased a 2 pack of 11×14 canvases from Kmart. The boys used one canvas while I used the other. We also purchased our crayons from Kmart as they had a 24 pack of crayons for 50c!

The first thing we did was set out our crayons in the order that we wanted them to go.  The boys wanted to do a rainbow melted crayon art while I wanted to make a beach scene with a sunset.

I glued on the crayons with a hot glue gun and we left them to dry overnight.

The next morning, we took the canvases outside and set them up against the garden edge. You could always cover your area with newspaper to help with the splatter if you wanted too.

We all took turns at using the hairdryer, making sure to hold it close so as to melt the crayons.

It didn’t take long before the crayons started to melt.

After we had the finish we wanted, I left them to dry for about 1/2 hour before taking them inside.

I think they turned out great. What do you think? Have you tried this?
