Days 40 and 41
Day 40
After leaving Newcastle Waters, we headed off early for Mataranka, as we had been told that Mataranka Homestead was a good place to stay, but it is first in best dressed: – they don’t take bookings.
We had a quick stop at the Stuart Tree,
before another quick stop at the famous Daly Waters Pub.
And I tried a panorama with my phone:
On the way out of Daly Waters, we went past the Stuart Tree, where apparently Stuart carved an S on his 3rd trip.
Then it was off to Mataranka Homestead.
This is one place that we went to that we will not be returning to, for a number of reasons. We found it quite dirty, very unlevel sites and the thermal spring was not as nice as Bitter Springs. Next time we would try the Bitter Springs Caravan Park.
There was a very short walk to Rainbow Springs, which are nice to look at, but you can’t swim here.
Day 41
The next day we spent at the Bitter Springs. We hired the pool noodles from the caravan park down the road for $5 (you get $4 back when you take the noodles back). We enjoyed these Springs at lot better. They were deeper, but with the pool noodles, we could just float down, take the short walk back and float down again.
Mataranka Homestead also has a live show each night. Our show included Nathan Griggs: Whipcracking Champion and and world record holder. The boys loved his show!!
This is his cane toad whip crack.
His Lightning Whip Crack that R loved!
This one is to demonstrate how fast he can whip crack: – How he got his world record!
This one was great!
He ended his show in an awesome fashion!
The boys decided they loved the show so much, that they bought a drink cooler which Nathan signed for them.
This whip cracking show was the best thing at Mataranka Homestead!
