Days 95 and 96

Days 95 and 96

Day 95 we were head for Northbrook Farm Stay. On the way we into the area, we found rolling grass hills and lots of yellow fields which were quite different from the red dirt, desert type surrounds we have been seeing for the last few weeks.

Yellow everywhere!

On arriving we were greeted by the owner, who pointed us in the direction of the camping area.

This area was not very flat, so we did have difficulty finding a spot to park our van. We did have power though which was great. That afternoon we caught up on the washing and played some table tennis.

We had an early night and gearing up for a busy next day!

Day 96

Today we headed into Geraldton for the day. First we went to the shops to get out of the rain. It didn’t last long, so we headed to Pages Beach for lunch. After taking in the view from the lookout, we headed for a drive out onto the beach.

We had lunch under the shelter here.

Then we drove out onto the beach.

This was only a small area on which a few cars could stop, so we ate our ice creams and headed off to Point Moore Lighthouse and beach.

The big lighthouse was across the road from the beach.

This little lighthouse was a shower!

Then we went to have a look at St Francis Xavier Cathedral. It was designed by the Monsignor John Hawes, taking 22 years to build

Next it was off to the Geraldton Foreshore for the boys to have a play on the playground.

Lastly, we went to the HMAS Sydney II Memorial. This memorial is situated on top of a small hill and had an amazing view over the town and port area of Geraldton.

It also had a very interesting toilet which the boys thought was great.

You press a button and out comes the toilet paper. The toilet only flushes when you wash you hands, so there is no button to press or lever to pull which they are getting quite used to at all the free camps we go to. It talks to you and the door opens automatically after 10 minutes, so don’t take any literature with you to read!

After a busy day at Geraldton, we started heading back to the farm stay, stopping in at Elephant Hill on the way home.

Can you see the elephant? The head and trunk are on the left hand side and the tail is on the right hand side.

On the way home, we were again surrounded by lots of yellow fields.
