Homemade Oven Cleaner Paste

Ingredients
- 2 TBSP Liquid Castile Soap
- 1 ½ Cups Bicarbonate of Soda
- 4 TBSP Lemon Juice
- 6 TBSP Water
- 25 Drops Essential Oils, Optional - Citrus Essential Oils would work well
Instructions
Making Oven Cleaner Paste
- If using essential oils, add them to the Castile soap and stir thoroughly.
- Add the Castile soap and lemon juice to the bicarbonate of soda and mix well.
- The mixture may bubble up, continue to gently stir until it calms down.
- Slowly, add a small amount of water at a time until a paste forms.
- Use the paste immediately to clean your oven.
Using Homemade Oven Cleaner Paste
- Remove the oven racks from inside your oven and set aside.
- Make the cleaner paste and spread over all the interior surfaces of the oven and let it sit for a few minutes. I would recommend using gloves for this. The mixture will turn a brownish colour as you rub it on.
- Then, wipe clean with a damp cloth. To make sure you have removed it all, try putting a little vinegar in a spray bottle and spraying it all over the interior of the oven. The vinegar will react with the bicarbonate of soda, and gently foaming showing you know where it is.
- Repeat wiping out with a damp cloth until all the bicarbonate of soda residue has been cleaned away.
- Heavy, stuck on foods may need to have the paste left on them for a longer period of time to loosen them to make them easier to remove.
- Place the oven racks back into the oven.
