First, make sure you have a scrap of fabric that is or can be cut into a 30cm (12 inch) square.
Cut the ribbon to around 45 cm (18 inch) in length.
Lay the fabric square, face down on the table and carefully place the dried lavender flower buds in the centre of the square. If you are using rice and essential oils, place the rice into the centre of the square and then add the essential oil and then leave to absorb for 10 minutes.
Fold the four corners in, bunching the fabric together and then tie the ribbon, in a knot, around it.
To use: Place the sachet in a drawer or closest to keep linens and clothing smelling fresh. Replace as needed.
There is no need to hem the fabric or finish the edges. Just cut the fabric with scissors and leave the edges raw.
A rubber band or string would work instead of the ribbon. It may not be as pretty, but it gets the job done.
Every now and then, gently press the drawer sachet in your hand to help release more scent.
The sachets will need to be freshened over time. Just untie the ribbon, add more essential oil if using rice or add a new lot of dried flowers, and tie back up.
