How to Make Sherbet

Ingredients

1 tsp citric acid
1 tsp bicarb soda
3 heaped dessert spoons icing sugar
2 level dessert spoons of jelly crystals or more to taste

Instructions

Place all the ingredients in a zip lock bag and shake to mix together.
Place about half a teaspoon of mixture onto your tongue.

Notes

You have created an acid-base reaction in your mouth.
What's Happening?
The citric acid is the acid.
The bicarb soda is the base.
Mixed with saliva they create a gas.
It is the carbon dioxide bubbles that give sherbet its fizz.
The icing sugar is needed to make the sherbet sweet and the jelly crystals add flavour.
