In this gorgeous Spring Alphabet Match  activity, children will be practicing learning their letters of the alphabet and beginning sounds by placing the correct cards on a butterfly.

Spring is a lovely time of the year, my favourite season. I love seeing all the butterflies flying around in our backyard. In this gorgeous Spring Alphabet Match  activity, children will be practicing learning their letters of the alphabet and beginning sounds by placing the correct cards on a butterfly.

Check out the list of materials that we use with these printables.

Preparing this Spring Alphabet Match activity is quite easy. Just print out the butterfly mat or your choice {there are two to choose from} and the alphabet letter and beginning sound cards on white paper or cardstock. Cut out the circle cards. You can laminate for durability and then place a velcro dot on the back of each circle card and in each circle on the butterfly mat. Children can decorate the butterfly as they wish before laminating as well.

There are two options of beginning sound cards, one with words and one without. There are also two versions, a colour version and a black and white version.

To use, place the cards into separate piles. One pile for each of the flower uppercase and lowercase letters; one pile for each of the pink, dotted uppercase and lowercase letters and one pile for the beginning sound pictures.

Have your child say the sound of the letter and then search through the piles for the correct letter and place them on the butterfly.
