Homemade Spaghetti Seasoning Mix
This spaghetti seasoning mix contains a delicious mix of herbs and spices that will elevate your meals in a flash. This recipe makes approximately ½ cup of seasoning mix, though it can be doubled or tripled as desired.
Using Homemade Spaghetti Seasoning Mix
This mix can be used:
- To flavour soups
- As a sauce on pizzas
- In homemade sauces and gravies
- In spaghetti, pasta, lasagna and meatball dishes
- On open toast, bruschetta and garlic bread
- As a seasoning sprinkled over grilled vegetables, chicken, shrimp and lamb
Seasoning Mix Variations
- Instead of the Italian seasoning, you can add 2 TBSP dried oregano, 2 tsp dried rosemary and 1 tsp dried thyme.
- Instead of paprika, try red pepper flakes.
- For those who enjoy fennel, try adding a pinch of ground fennel or fennel seeds to the mix.
Notes
- It is best not to add salt to this seasoning as the dish that you use this in may already have enough salt and you don’t want it to be too salty.
- If you are using herbs and spices with lumps or larger pieces in them, you could pop this mix into a food processor or spice grinder to grind it down until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Make sure to use a clean, dry spoon when using the blend.

Once the herbs and spices have been mixed together, store in a clean, airtight container at room temperature for up to three months. It will store for longer periods of time, though the potency will begin to decrease. This blend can be stored in the freezer for up to six months.
