I had heard about people creating a Salt Dough Tomb to help teach children about the story of Easter.

Salt Dough Tomb
We flattened out the green dough to use as grass for our tomb and laid it on a lined baking tray.
Then we got a clean, empty tin (a condensed milk one that we had just used to make Ice Cream Slice) and laid it towards the back of one side of the grass. It was pushed down slightly into the green salt dough to help it stay there.

Salt Dough
Simple Living. Creative LearningIngredients
- 4 cups plain flour
- 1 1/2 cups salt
- 2 cups of water
- 1 TBSP of oil.
- I made this up and then took about about 1-4 - 1/3 of the dough and coloured it green.
- The rest of the dough we coloured a grey colour.
Instructions
- I made this up and then took about about 1-4 - 1/3 of the dough and coloured it green.
- The rest of the dough we coloured a grey colour.
Then we flattened out the grey dough, making a small ‘stone’ for the entrance of the tomb and placing the rest over the can for the tomb.We also added some smaller stones that led up to the entrance of the tomb.
Using a paddlepop stick I pushed a small hole into the back of the tomb so that we were able to put a cross there when it had cooked. For the cross I cut one paddlepop stick in half and glued in onto a full stick.
The tomb was then baked for a while until it looked dry.
We then made an angel and 2 women out of clay and when they had dried we painted them.
The boys had a great time playing with this while reading the Resurrection Story in the Bible.
