I am so excited to share about this new Bible study from GrapeVine Studies – The Resurrection: Multi-Level. We first heard about GrapeVine Studies last year when we reviewed Creation to Jacob, which we loved. In order to complete this review, we received a copy of the Resurrection Multi-Level for the boys which contained all the activities they needed to complete the program and a Teacher’s Manual for me which comes with lesson notes, timelines, maps, lesson goals, key points, review questions and memory verses.
The Resurrection Multi-Level Studies comprises of 11 weekly lessons or 40 daily lessons in which you learn about the time Jesus and His disciples shared together at the last supper and then events that took place after, eventually leading to the death of Jesus on the cross, concluding with Jesus’ last words to His disciples before He ascended to heaven.
In order to complete this course, you will need a Bible, Internet, paper and printer and coloured pencils or markers to draw the stick figures. The instructor will start by reading the Bible passage and discussing the events with the students before the stick figure drawings are completed.
Each weekly lesson includes a review of the part of the timeline you are up to, review of the previous Bible memory verse, stick figure drawing activities for the next passage, lesson review questions, a new memory verse and a page where the student can draw their favourite part of the lesson.
How did we go?
We paced ourselves with course and are completing it over 11 weeks, using the weekly lessons. I find this is much better for the boys and gives them more time to memorise the Bible verse and digest what they have been learning.
On the first day of the week, we completed the first page of the lesson which included the Timeline Review and the Memory Verse Review. The next day, we would read the four Bible passages and draw the stick figure drawings. The third day, we would continue with the story, reading the rest of the Bible passages and drawing the rest of the stick figures, following with the lesson review. On the fourth day of the week, the boys drew their favourite part of the lesson and worked on reciting the memory verse. On the fifth day, we would work on reciting the memory verse ready to start the next lesson the following week.
I love how The Resurrection is taught in chronological order so our boys are able to learn all the major events in order leading up the death and resurrection of Jesus. This was also a very timely course with Easter on the way. We were able to talk about the real reasons we celebrate Easter and what Jesus went through for us during this period.
We have found this to be an easy to prepare Bible curriculum that is very effective in teaching little ones the word of the Lord. Even our boy who hates drawing loves GrapeVine Studies. We have now used two different GrapeVine studies and have loved them both. They are such a great way to teach children about important events of the Bible.
GrapeVine also offer many other studies and here is an overview of the topics and order they can be taught in.
GrapeVine Studies also have different levels for different ages, below is a list to help you decide which pack you will need for your child.
If you are still unsure of whether this program will suit your family, why not try out some of the sample lessons?
If you are unsure of what level your child would be at or where to start, check out their website for more information.
