Making Puppets

Select coloured craft papers that you want to use to make your reindeer. Trace the patterns from the provided template on the selected craft papers and cut them out.

Reindeer Story Puppets

Paste the antlers on the top side of the head pattern, then paste the round paper cutout in the middle of the body pattern. Next, paste the nose (small red cutout) on the medium oval shaped cutout. Lastly, paste the bell pattern in the middle of the curved strip (collar).

Reindeer Story Puppets

Paste the oval shaped cutout (with the nose) near the bottom side of the head pattern.

Reindeer Story Puppets

Paste the small strips on the open ends of the leg parts attached to the body pattern.

Reindeer Story Puppets

Use a black sharpie to draw the eyes and mouth of the Reindeer puppet. Paste the collar piece near the top side of the body pattern and the inside ear bits to the ears.

Reindeer Story Puppets

Paste the head pattern on the top side of the body pattern.

Reindeer Story Puppets

Lastly, paste the Reindeer onto a popsicle stick to complete the puppet.

Reindeer Story Puppets

Create a story and use your puppets to help you tell it.

You could also use these reindeer (without the popsicle stick) as gift tags on Christmas gifts or paste to the front of a homemade Christmas card!

This is super cute, I will have to try this with the children, I’m sure they are going to enjoy making their own reindeer puppet.
