Prayer of Jabez Printables

Jabez is a man whose prayer appears in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.

As in ancient times, the name of a person played a large role, with parents naming their children after what they were experiencing at the time. The name Jabez means “borne in pain.”

His mother named him this as maybe she had some sorrow or pain during childbirth. It may have been a difficult birth or maybe there was a family tragedy at the time. It seems like Jabez may also have been in some sort of continual pain throughout his life.

In this printable pack, you will find some great activities for teaching kids about the Prayer of Jabez and the incredible faith one man had in God.

Included are three posters that contain the Bible Verses that are Prayer of Jabez. Each poster comes in a different Biblical version – The KJV, the ESV and the ASV. There are also blank pages for children to practice writing out these verses, which will also help with memorising them.

Also included are two pages of information about the verses. There is a small activity on the bottom of both of these pages. On one page, children will box the words of the meaning of Jabez, while on the second page, children can colour and decorate the word PRAY.

Next, is a page of questions for children to think about and then answer. Following this is a colouring page that contains the words – Call on God – with pictures of children praying and hearts. After this is an activity in which children will write the names of people and things they are praying for.

Towards the end of the pack, children will complete a word search and a type of cross word puzzle, both of which use words that can be found in the Bible verses in 1 Chronicles.

The last activity involves white cardstock, glue or tape and coms cutting. Children will cut out and create a 3D cross which contains the verses from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, as well as a hand that contains the verses of 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.
