When I was asked to review the Motivated Moms Ebook, I was a bit apprehensive. I do not like housework or chores at the best of times and usually try leaving them as long as possible, but I was willing to give this system a try.
Motivated Moms is a chore planning system that is available as a printable eBook, or an app for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android. It is a great, easy to use system that will help you have a clean and organised home, allowing for more free time to spend as you wish.
I was chosen to review an Ebook, so I visited the website to choose the one I liked. I ended up choosing the 2014 Motivated Moms Page Per Day Chore Planner with Scheduled Bible Reading in Color. All the Ebooks come in pdf form that you will need to download and print out. There are many ways you can use the planners. I thought about printing it out daily and sticking it on the fridge door, but I would probably forget to print it out.
So, I can up with the idea of printing out all the pages and then binding them together in 4 separate books, each book containing 3 months. Now I had a small, lightweight book that I could leave in a certain spot (like next to my bed) and check each morning what needed to be done.
Above is a sample page of the chore planner I chose.
You do not have to choose this Planner. There are so many other options of Ebooks for you to choose from:
- full page size or half page size
- colour or black and white
- with or without scheduled Bible reading
- one day per page or one week per page
- with or without an appointments section
How did I go?
It did take a couple of weeks for me to get into a routine of using the Ebook. For me it was easier to check and complete most of what needed to be done first thing in the morning while the boys were still waking up, having breakfast and getting dressed. It would normally take me up to an hour to get most of the easier tasks done.
I soon had the DAILY tasks down pat as they didn’t change eg. planning dinner, exercise, doing the washing and empty/loading the dishwasher. Many of these tasks I did daily anyway. Under the list of DAILY tasks there is also some space for you to add your own tasks.
The TODAY tasks changed daily. These included changing the sheets, cleaning the bath/shower, cleaning the microwave or fridge. They usually took a little more time to complete, so I would try and fit them in around our schedule (and the weather – you can’t hang out washing if it is raining!) for that particular day.
When looking through the Ebook, I found the list of tasks for TODAY was really quite thorough. Added were tasks such as mending, cleaning out purse/wallet, spend time on a craft/hobby and even pampering yourself. These are tasks that I rarely think about and spend even less time doing.
The boys also joined in and helped me with some of the easier tasks. They even asked to be shown how to complete some of the chores that they had never done before, so they could help with them in the future. I loved it! They were taking turns with turning on and emptying the dishwasher, dusting, empty the rubbish bins, vacuuming and turning on the washing machine. They really enjoyed being able to tick off the chores as they were completed.
Overall, we found this to be an easy way to keep on top of the chores and having a tidy, clean and organised house. Though some days were a bit more difficult than others, we found the chore planner to be very beneficial to our household. Our house is now cleaner and tidier than it has ever been.
