This fun and free marshmallow addition and subtraction activity is the perfect activity for helping children learn, practice and review early addition and subtraction skills. While completing these marshmallow themed printables, children can enjoy learning while incorporating manipulatives into this experience making it a very engaging activity.

Marshmallow Addition and Subtraction Activity

This fun activity doesn’t need to be used with manipulatives, but kids love using manipulatives. They make learning fun while improving their math skills.

With these thirty-three pages of printables, children will be able to practice, learn and review their addition skills using this fun printable activity.

To Prepare This Activity

To prepare this activity, print off all the pages for the colour or black and white version of these printables.

There are four mugs of hot chocolate that contain a number from one through 20 on each letter page which will need to be cut out. I prefer to laminate these mats for durability.

Also included, there are twenty-eight pages of marshmallows that contain addition and subtraction equations. With 16 marshmallows on each letter page, there is a total of over 400 different addition and subtraction equations. Cut out each of these marshmallows and laminate for durability.

To Use This Activity

Children can use just the addition or subtraction equations or both together, depending on whether they are learning, or reviewing their maths.

Have children choose a mug mat.

Then they will proceed to go through the marshmallow addition or subtraction equations, finding the ones that when completed, the answer is the number on the mat.

If you choose the black and white version of these mats and cards, children can colour in the mugs or marshmallows before they are laminated.
