Malteser Slice

Malteser Slice

With only 5 ingredients, this slice is quick and easy to make and tastes so delicious with a cuppa for morning or afternoon tea or a lunchbox treat.

Maltese’s are such a lovely treat with their delicious crunchy malt centre and chocolate outside.

Malteser Slice Tips

  • When making this slice, I used a block of good quality milk chocolate. Instead, you could use milk chocolate melts or buttons or even dark chocolate or white chocolate.
  • To help reduce the amount of chocolate melting off the Maltesers, allow the melted chocolate mixture to cool slightly before adding the Maltesers.
  • Desiccated coconut could be added to the mixture, though a little more chocolate may be needed to make sure the slice will set.
  • 2 TBSP of cocoa powder could also be added for an extra chocolate fix.
  • Decorate the top of the slice with extra Maltesers
  • Top the slice with a layer of melted chocolate mixed with a little coconut oil
  • Drizzle the top of the slice with melted white chocolate

Making Malteser Slice

To make this slice, you will need:

  • Maltesers
  • Scotch Finger Biscuits or another sweet biscuit such as Marie or Arrowroots
  • Butter
  • Milk Chocolate
  • Golden Syrup

After preparing a lamington tray, crush the biscuits in a food processor. I used scotch finger biscuits, though you could use any sweet biscuits.

Roughly chop the Maltesers if you wish. I chop them in half.

Melt the butter, chocolate and syrup together.

Mix the melted chocolate mixture with the crushed biscuits and Maltesers.

Pour into prepared tray and press the top down.

Place in the fridge for a couple of hours until set before cutting into squares.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
