Days 42 to 44

After leaving Mataranka, we filled up with fuel at the United Fuel Station, got a shock at the price of a hot pie

Mrs Mac Pies

$8 for one pie!!

Had a look at the massive man-made termite mound

Then headed off to Kings River Rest Area for the next three nights. This place has no phone/internet service, but it has a dump point. The bins were emptied and the water tanks were filled while we were there.

As we were setting up, an ice cream truck turned up!! Yay!!

The first night, we sat around a campfire with many others who were also free camping at the same place and met some wonderful people, especially the ‘Frenchies.’ He played the didgeridoo and the bongo drum, she also took turns at playing the drum. It was a great night, great for the boys to talk to some people from a different country.

The next day, we finally tried out our awning. We just haven’t had time or space before, but it works well.

Our last night, we had a small campfire of our own and roasted some marshmallows that we found in the cupboard.

Our Campfire

Overall this was a great free camp and we really didn’t want to leave.
