Day 111
Today, we headed east again down the Nullarbor. At the start of the day, the weather wasn’t that great, but it did get slightly better. We also crossed the WA / SA Border and lost 1 1/2 hours.
The long, long road ahead.
This sign was actually on the other side of the road, hidden behind some bushes. We parked the car/van and walked across.
This sign was on our side of the road, coming into South Australia from Western Australia. You can just see our van in the background.
A bit further along just outside the petrol station, was Rooey.
We have see the signs for many of the Nullarbor Golf Course holes on our journey.
This is a short par 3 hole. If you look closely, you can see the flag in the distance.
We saw some amazing views at the Official Lookouts 1 and 3 along the way, though the way we were going, we hit Lookout 3 first and then Lookout 1.
This was the view from the Official Lookout Number 3.
It was quite cold and windy at the lookout.
We then skipped the official lookout 2 as it was a long way off the main highway and we couldn’t see how full the car park was, so were not sure if we would have been able to turn around with the caravan. But, we did stop at the official lookout 1 and the view was spectacular!
We then had a stop at the Nullarbor Roadhouse for fuel and some hot chips to warm us up on this rather cool and windy day.
The fuel here was quite expensive, but not as bad as Uluru!
Then it was back onto the Eyre Highway to continue our journey across the Nullarbor.
In the Yalata area is the dog proof fence.
We didn’t stop, just took a few photos as we drove over the grid and saw it running down the side of the road.
Then it was off to the Cohen Rest Stop for the night.
